Sweet 16 favors for my daughter!

I was planning a birthday party for my daughter, who was turning sixteen and needed some suggestions. My friend found quite a few party accessories and supplies online for her daughters celebration. So, I decided to check it out. It was surprising to find so many ideas for party supplies for the tables and little gifts. I ran across some pretty neat ideas for her birthday celebration. I was able to make cookies in the shape of the number 16 as one of the snacks for her party with the cookie cutters I ordered.

Since it was her birthday, I let her decide what she wanted and she decided to party at the roller rink and have her friends stay overnight. So I made the arrangements, and reserved tables with the roller rink in our neighborhood. Next, came the invitations for all of her closest girl friends. It was a lot cheaper than I figured it would be. Refreshments, pizza and hot dogs were also part of the package, and didn’t cost very much at all. At home I had everything set up for the party to continue. I put out the cookies I had made, along with a few other snacks, and set up birthday decorations.

The cookie cutters wasn’t the only thing I ordered online. Since I saved money on the roller rink deal, I decided it would be nice to get the girls a few sweet sixteen favors. I found pink photo albums for the girls and gave each of them a disposable camera for party pictures. They all knew about the cameras, so they could take pictures at the roller rink, but they had no clue about the albums I bought for them. Even though they took a lot of photos at the roller rink, they all saved some picture taking for the sleepover.

One of the favors was a cosmetic bag that had each girls initial on the front button. With the cosmetic bags I bought manicure sets and little purse mirrors to go with it. I also sat out these adorable little favor boxes I bought online that were filled with candies for each guest. At home, her sweet sixteen party and presents awaited, and we took care of that as soon as we got there. So, with all the other snack foods, soft drinks and the chick flicks we picked up on the way home, they were a bunch of happy campers. They turned on some of their music and danced around for a while, then they took out their manicure sets and started to work on nails, and give make overs to each other. You could tell they were all having a fantastic time.

When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. I wanted to give them as much space as I could and not intrude on their girl time, but I got an invitation to join them for a movie. It made me feel good that they wanted to include me. After the second movie, one by one, they started falling asleep. Now it was down to just me and my daughter and she didn’t make it very long. Just before she closed her eyes, she let me know how much she appreciated her super birthday party.

When I got up in the morning the girls were already downstairs and had eaten, then straightened up everything from the party. I was very impressed with their thoughtfulness in helping me out. They shared a couple of more hours together and then some of the girls had left for home. As they were leaving, the girls thanked me for the wonderful time they had and all of the favors for sweet sixteen I bought for them. So, I guess that makes me a cool mom, hey?
